Scrap trading has traditionally run on phone calls, personal relationships, and whichever yard was closest. That is shifting.

Price transparency. Online marketplaces let sellers see indicative rates and compare multiple buyers before committing, instead of relying on a single quote.

Wider reach for buyers. Traders can source specific grades of material from sellers outside their immediate area, which matters more for bulk or specialised lots like e-waste or industrial off-cuts.

Faster verification. Photos, listed weights, and category tags let both sides assess a load before a truck is ever booked, cutting down on wasted trips.

What has not changed: trust still matters. Verified profiles, clear terms, and secure payment handling remain the deciding factor in who a seller ultimately deals with — online or off.
